Dippy the clown and a friendly dragon will be among the guests celebrating the official opening of a new children and families centre in Stourbridge.
The new centre, a partnership project between Dudley Council and children’s charity NCH, provides a whole range of services for children and young people aged from 0 to 18 and their parents or carers.
The centre offers early learning, family support, health services, training and employment advice and support for parents or carers of children with additional needs and disabilities.
Stourbridge Children and Families Centre, based in Forge Road, will be officially launched on Saturday, February 2 at 1pm where there will be a host of exciting activities on offer for all ages.
Families will be able to enjoy tall tales from a storyteller, make friends with Dippy the Clown and Cedric the dragon. There will also be fun and games for older children and craft and activity workshops for the whole family.
Entertainment will include clog dancers and pupils from Pedmore Technology College will be providing musical accompaniment throughout the afternoon.
There will be a market place where parents can find out more information about useful services and all children will be given a free goodie bag.
Parents who attend the centre have worked hard to help organise the opening event and one mum has even made a huge celebration cake to mark the event.
Sally Wellings, centre manager said:
“We are really looking forward to our official launch and we welcome all families living in the area to come and find out more about the services we can provide for children, young people and parents.”
Councillor Liz Walker, cabinet member for children’s services, said:
"Stourbridge Childen and Families Centre is doing some really excellent work in the community, offering support for everyone involved with children and young people. This will be a fantastic event which will also give residents the chance to find out more about the services on offer at the centre."
Stourbridge Children and Families Centre offers a wide range of services including a tots group, toy library, family activity days, individual and group support for children, young people and parents/carers groups and support for young carers. More services will come on line over the next few months.
