There’s a magical treat in store for borough children this week when a renowned storyteller visits Stourbridge Library.
Julie Cooper, actress and storyteller, will visit the library on Saturday 2 February from 2.15 to 3.15pm to mark National Storytelling Week, which runs from Saturday 26 January to Saturday 2 February.
During the session Julie will read much loved children’s fairy stories and families are welcome to attend.
The session also marks the launch of a new monthly Saturday dads and kids story and craft session at the library. Similar sessions are already proving a huge success at Halesowen and Dudley Library.
The free dads and kids story and craft sessions will take place on the first
Saturday of each month. It’s a great time for dads to spend quality time with their children while they enjoy storytelling encouraging children to read.
Councillor Michael Evans, the cabinet member responsible for libraries, said:
“Listening to stories from a young age can be such a magical and memorable experience for children, which can inspire a love of reading for the rest of their lives. This session is therefore a great way for children to catch the reading bug”.
