A senior Dudley councillor will be touring a top borough business to see how it has made huge leaps in reducing its carbon footprint.
Councillor Malcolm Knowles, cabinet member for economic regeneration, will be making a whistle-stop tour of Boss Design next week.
The firm has made significant strides in achieving carbon neutral status – low carbon emissions from the 105 sq ft factory in Boss Drive, Dudley, where it makes seating.
Councillor Knowles will be meeting staff and talking to bosses to learn more about how the company has reduced its carbon emissions and cut the amount of waste it sends to landfill to zero.
Councillor Malcolm Knowles, cabinet member for economic regeneration, said:
“I have been very impressed to hear about the work at Boss Design and I am looking forward to meeting the workers and find out for myself how the company has reduced its carbon footprint.”
The company, which employs more than170 people, says it has achieved its carbon neutral status by significantly reducing waste and increasing recycling and reusing.
The firm also recently won the gold award at the International Environment Awards – dubbed the Green Apple Awards - in November (2007) for its work in recycling and reducing the environmental impact.
Councillor Knowles will visit Boss Design on January 8, from 10am.
