A panel of 13-19 year olds will allocate the last share of two funds for young people this Saturday (2 February).
£17,000 (£2K Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF) and £15K Youth Capital Fund (YCF)) will be granted to applicants by the grant-making panel at Merry Hill Customer Services Suite.
Dudley has already distributed £338,000 of funding received from the government for projects providing ‘things to do and places to go’. Young people between the ages of 13 and 19 (or up to 25 with disabilities) can apply for a grant from the additional funding to finance projects focusing on community cohesion, bringing young people from different backgrounds and communities together. The projects must be able to spend the money by 31 March 2008.
Attendees must complete an application form and bring this along to a meeting with the panel who will decide how they will allocate the remaining funds.
Councillor Liz Walker, cabinet member for the children’s services, said:
“The funds have already supported over one hundred projects this year and these are now up and running. The panel are looking forward to distributing the remaining amount from the funds and I would encourage any young people with projects needing funding to go along on 2 February. This two-year programme of funding has provided the chance for many new initiatives for young people to be realised which may not have been able to take place otherwise.”
