A descendent of Charles Dickens’ will host an evening at Netherton Arts Centre next month.
Gerald Dickens, the great great grandson of Charles, will perform some of the greatest scenes from Dickens’ best stories in An Audience with Charles Dickens.
The show is on Monday 27 February at 7.30pm at Netherton Arts Centre, Northfield Road, Netherton and will take place in the bicentennial year of Charles Dickens’ birth.
It features moments from Pickwick Papers, David Copperfield, the death of Nancy from Oliver Twist and an opportunity to enter the classroom of Wackford Squeers in a stunning performance from Nicholas Nickleby.
Councillor Liz Walker, cabinet member for children’s services, said:
“The works of Dickens will surely come to life during these performances. This is a once in a lifetime chance for people to get to see the great great grandson of Dickens and I am sure he will enthrall the audience.”
