10 - Halesowen gym fits the bill

Gym opening Left to right: Billy Taylor, Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for environment and culture, and Jayne Davies cut the ribbon to mark the gym as open.

Halesowen Leisure Centre cut the ribbon on its state-of-the-art gym in an official opening ceremony this week.

Local councillors joined gym users and members of the public to celebrate its £275,000 makeover.

Having almost double the floor space of the previous facility, the Dudley Council led gym features the very latest in cardiovascular equipment and high quality resistance equipment.

The gym also offers users specialised data keys, which allows them to follow their own fitness programme and record their progress with help from the council’s qualified and experienced fitness team.

The new facilities are part of a wider £1.4million improvement programme, with investment also going to gyms at Crystal and Dudley leisure centres.

Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for the environment and culture, said:

“I am delighted that we are making so many improvements across the council’s three leisure centres.

“It was an honor to officially open Halesowen Leisure Centre’s new gym. I know the local community will be delighted to have access to such fantastic facilities.”
