Around 1,000 visitors have already reminisced their way through 300 photographs in the ‘Pictures from the past’ exhibition at Himley Hall.
The exhibition, which opened two weeks ago, is a selection of photographs from the Express & Star’s photographic library. Subjects range from a selection of historic local landscapes and Black Country industry to royal visits and Slade performing at the Civic Hall in Wolverhampton.
Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for environment and culture said:
“We are delighted with the response to the exhibition to date and there is no doubt that Pictures from the Past is a resounding success. Around 1,000 visitors in such a short space of time is a testament to people’s fascination with the history of the area. The role that press photographers play in recording history for future generations to discover is vital.”
The Pictures from the Past exhibition is on view at Himley Hall until September 7. Himley Hall is open from Tuesdays to Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays from 2 to 5pm. Admission to the hall is free.
