11 - Summer JAM club

 
There’s fun for everyone at Dudley Council’s museums this summer.
 
The ever popular JAM club (Juniors at Museums) is running craft activities aimed at six to 11 year-olds.
 
At Broadfield House Glass Museum from 19 July to 31 August, 12noon to 4pm, youngsters can join in the Seaside Search for free. Kids can find all the things they might need to take to a beach on our treasure trail. 
 
At Dudley Museum & Art Gallery there are a variety of activities on offer. On
22 and 23 July there’s Crazy characters. For just  £2.50 children can create a character that really comes to life with hand puppets and matchbox crazy creatures.
 
On 30 and 31 July there’s Animal antics where kids can create an animal magnet to take home for just £2.50.
 
On 27 and 28 August kids go Down under. Participating children can design and decorate an aboriginal style card boomerang and make their own identity bracelet for £2.50.
 
From 21 July to 31 August, 10am to 4pm, there’s a free treasure trail called Animal hunt where youngsters can search the museum for animals.
 
At The Red House Glass Cone on 28 and 30 July children join in Flutters and foam and make fabulous foam sun visors to protect them from the hot sun. They can also create a 3D butterfly mobile to flutter in the breeze and the activities cost just £3.25 per child.
 
On 4 and 5 August youngsters can explore Native American art for £3.25. Make a delightful dream catcher and other traditional Native American inspired crafts in this activity.
 
On 11 and 12 August the children go under the sea to make a pirate or mermaid puppet for £3.25.
 
On 18 and 19 August for £3.25, children can learn an array of crafts to help them through The Enchanted Forest.
 
Throughout the summer from 19 July to 31 August from 10am to 4pm children can hunt the site for out of place objects in the free Is it glass activity where they decide if objects are made from glass.
 
Councilor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for environment and culture, said:
 
“With so many activities on offer over the summer holiday Dudley borough will have plenty to keep youngsters busy.
 
“Our museum activities are very popular with children and with so many interesting exhibitions at each of the sites I’m sure parents will be entertained as well.”
 
All paid for sessions at all sites must be booked in advance and an adult must accompany children. Some sessions may be available on the day.
