25 - Dudley delivers top performing service

 
People claiming benefits in Dudley are getting one of the best services in the country, according to recently released government figures.
 
Dudley Council’s award-winning benefits service came top out of all metropolitan councils in the country for its performance in processing claims for housing and council tax benefit.
 
The service deals with claims from over 30,000 borough households. Government figures, for the financial year ending March 2008, showed accuracy rates were 99 per cent and changes to benefit claims took just ten days to process.
 
A cornerstone of Dudley’s performance is the council’s ‘Fastrack Promise’ which promises borough residents their benefit claim will be processed within a maximum of 48 hours, once a properly completed claim has been received.
