Donkey rides, sticks of rock and Punch and Judy shows will help transform Halesowen into a seaside town for the day at an event this weekend.
Halesowen By The Sea will offer seaside fun for the whole family when it takes place in the town on Saturday (2 August).
The Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Ray Burston and the Mayoress of Dudley Mrs Debbie Burston will attend the event, which will run from 11am to 4pm.
Youngsters will be able to enjoy donkey rides, face painting, a caricaturist, a giant sand pit and Punch and Judy shows. Halesowen sticks of rock will be given out to shoppers who can also enjoy other entertainment such as Dave Dee’s mobile disco, which will be in town throughout the day.
Street theatre will be provided by sea characters including Robbie the Pirate, deep-sea divers, lobsters and others. Heart FM’s alfresco team will also be in Halesowen handing out goodie bags and freebees.
The Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Ray Burston, said:
“Halesowen by the Sea is a brilliant family day out and as there is so much on offer it’s always immensely popular.
“I’m looking forward to joining in the fun and can’t wait to see Halesowen being transformed into a seaside town once again.”
The event, organised by Dudley Council’s town centre management team, will feature a lifeboat courtesy of the RNLI.
Halesowen Leisure Centre is also offering free entry for children accompanied by a paying adult.
