There’s fun for everyone at Dudley Council’s museums this summer.
The ever-popular JAM club (Juniors at Museums) is running craft activities aimed at six to 11 year-olds.
At Broadfield House Glass Museum youngsters can join in the seaside search until Sunday 31 August. This free treasure trail, which runs Monday to Saturday from 12noon to 4pm, gives youngsters the chance to hunt for things they might take to the beach.
At Dudley Museum & Art Gallery there are a variety of activities on offer. On Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31 July kids can create an animal magnet to take homewith animal antics. Sessions cost £2.50 per child.
On Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 August kids go down under with aboriginal themed workshops. Children get to design and decorate an aboriginal style card boomerang as well as their very own bracelet. Sessions cost £2.50 per child.
A free treasure trail called animal hunt gives youngsters the opportunity to search the museum for animals. The searches take place Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm until Sunday 31 August.
At the Red House Glass Cone on Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 August youngsters can explore native American art for £3.25. Participants can make a delightful dream catcher and other traditional Native American inspired crafts with this activity. Sessions cost £3.25 per child.
On Monday 11 and Tuesday 12 August the children go under the sea to make a pirate or mermaid puppet for £3.25 per child.
Children can also learn an array of crafts to help them through The Enchanted Forest on Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 August for £3.25.
Children can hunt the site for out of place objects in the free ‘is it glass?’ activity throughout the summer. The activity runs each day from 10am to 4pm until Sunday 31 August.
Councilor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for environment and culture, said:
“With so many activities on offer over the summer holiday Dudley borough will have plenty to keep youngsters busy.
“Our museum activities are very popular with children and with so many interesting exhibitions at each of the sites I’m sure parents will be entertained as well.”
Paid for sessions at all sites must be booked in advance. Adults must accompany children and can do so for free. Some sessions may be available on the day.
