Budding borough poets are encouraged to be in time for a rhyme at a borough library this month.
Sedgley Library is inviting local poets to a coffee morning session to share their love of poetry by reading some of their favourite poems and the reasons why they mean so much to them to mark the national year of reading’s July theme which is rhythm and rhyme.
The free session on Wednesday July 23 runs from 10.30am and 11.30am. People need to pre-book as spaces are limited and refreshments will be provided. To book a place call Sedgley Library.
In addition, children’s poet Paul Cookson will be sharing funny poems at Stourbridge Library from 11am to 12noon, Halesowen Library from 1.30pm to 2.30pm and Long Lane Library from 3pm to 4pm on July 30.
Councillor Michael Evans, cabinet member responsible for libraries, said:
“The National Year of Reading aims to inspire more and more people to get reading in 2008 in whatever format whether it’s books, poetry, newspapers or magazines. This event provides a great opportunity for would-be-poets to come along and read some of their favourite poems and possibly even share a few of their own”.
