Young people across Dudley borough who have made outstanding contributions have the chance to be recognised in this year’s Youth Awards.
Nominations are needed for young people in Dudley who have made outstanding contributions to their local community, demonstrated exceptional bravery and courage, inspired others and achieved extraordinary results in sport and the arts.
Dudley Youth Council also wants to hear about youngsters who do the little things which make a big difference, whether it is helping elderly neighbours by simply carrying their shopping or collecting their newspapers.
The Youth Awards will be celebrated in October at a glamorous ‘oscar’ style event. Both adults and young people can make nominations for individuals or groups.
This year there are seven categories: sport (individual award), community/charity/voluntary work (individual and group award), arts and entertainment, bravery and courage, contributions to school/college and the Mary Growcott award for adults who have made an outstanding contribution to youth groups.
Nomination forms are available from libraries, schools, youth centres and can be downloaded from www.dudley.gov.uk on the giving young people a voice page. The deadline for nominations is 18 July.
Councillor Liz Walker, cabinet member for children’s services, said:
“Dudley Youth Council awards are a wonderful way of celebrating the work and often untold acts of courage and bravery of young people. This is a great opportunity for adults and young people to nominate those who deserve to be recognised”.
