Visitors to the famous DudleyMuseum and ArtGallery can now arrive in style with the creation of a plush new entrance and reception.
The new entrance, off Priory Street, has now officially opened to the public.
The bright modern feel includes new doors, counter, displays, shop, TV screens and electronic information displays.
It has also helped free up 25 per cent more exhibition space for exciting new displays such as the Duncan Edwards exhibition. A lift to the upper floor has also been added as part of the project.
It is a major improvement on the tiny entrance which was based in St James’s Road, for many years.
More than £18,000 has been invested into the scheme to help provide visitors with more information and a brighter welcome to the popular tourist attraction.
Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for environment and culture, said:
“First impressions are very important to our visitors and I think they will agree that this is a fantastic, bright new entrance.
“It has a real welcoming feel and has helped us put more facilities and exhibitions into the gallery.”
The old entrance used to be used by visitors when the building was used as the town’s first library. But it has not been used for several years.
The museum is open from Monday to Saturday, from 10am-4pm.
