2 - Partnership working brings peace of mind for tenants

Dudley housing services and new local contractors Dodds are working together to ensure electrical wiring in council homes meets national standards.

Almost 6,500 properties in the Dudley borough have been earmarked for inspection this year as part of a new partnership contract. The periodic inspections include safety assessments and, where needed homes are being given a full or partial rewire and upgrade, ensuring they meet the Decent Homes Standard, and giving tenants peace of mind.

Inspections are currently being made on council properties in the Stourbridge area. Since April 2007, checks have taken place on more than 3,500 homes.

Councillor Michael Evans, cabinet member for housing said
“We take our responsibilities as landlords very seriously and we are pleased with the progress made so far with electrical safety checks. Dudley works successfully in partnership with a number of outside contractors and I hope that this is the beginning of another fruitful partnership for residents.”
