25 - Summer of sports in Dudley

 
Sports fans are expected to jump at the chance to play basketball in Dudley as part of a sizzling summer of activities for youngsters.
 
Basketball, gymnastics and swimming are just some of the sports on offer at Dudley Leisure Centre over the next few weeks.
 
It is part of Dudley Council’s Summer Sportszone which sees sports and physical activities taking place across the borough.
 
Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for environment and culture, said:
 
“There’s something going on for everyone at Dudley Leisure Centre, and will help keep children and families entertained over the summer break.”
 
Basketball for eight to 11-year-olds takes place on July 31 as well as August 7, 14 and 21, from 10am-noon. It costs £3.50 per session or £12 for all four sessions if pre-booked.
 
Basketball for 12-18-year-olds runs on July 28, August 11 and 18, from 1-3pm. The same prices apply.
 
Gymnastics sessions run on July 30, as well as August 13, 20 and 27. Youngsters from five to eight take to the floor from 10-11am, while classes for eight-12-year-old run from 11am-noon. Sessions cost £3.50.
 
There’s also swimming lessons for beginners, which run for one week for 30 minutes each session. The two weeks of lessons run from July 28, from 9-11am and cost £20 per week.
 
All sports sessions should be booked in advance by calling 01384 815594, and all swimming lessons can be booked by calling 01384 812815.
 
Sessions are open to people of all ages and abilities and coaches have specialist disability training.
