Top class pupils and staff at a Dudley school are celebrating becoming only the fourth in the country to gain a major award.
The Sycamore Centre has been awarded the prestigious ICT Mark for its use of computers and technology.
The centre, in Sycamore Green, is one of only four in the country to receive the coveted status from the British Education Communications and Technology Agency. There are 450 similar centres across the country.
It offers help and support to get excluded children reintegrated into the education system, enabling them to regain their confidence, self-esteem and develop their attitude to learning. Staff also work with other schools across the borough helping pupils at risk of being excluded.
The award recognises the use of ICT at the complex and in the curriculum.
Councillor Liz Walker, cabinet member for children’s services, said:
“We are delighted to have received this award for one of our specialist referral centres.
“We place great emphasis on the use of ICT in schools and I congratulate staff on all their hard work in delivering this.”
