Dudley Council and its painting partners MITIE have cleaned up at the annual Painting and Decorating Association (PDA) awards.
For the second consecutive year the council’s housing services and MITIE were awarded a ‘highly commended’ accolade in the commercial class, of the prestigious PDA event at Painters’ Hall in London.
It recognised work carried out on internal redecoration at Woodhouse Court sheltered scheme in Quarry Bank. At the centre in Sheffield Street diligent planning enabled minimum disruption to residents who were also encouraged to help choose colour schemes used.
Representatives from Dudley and MITIE attended the ceremony, which is highly regarded in the painting and decorating industry. This marks the beginning of the third year of this successful partnership.
Councillor Michael Evans, cabinet member for housing said:
“Sheltered housing schemes provide a welcoming and safe home for older people, enabling them to live independently for longer. This is a successful partnership and I’m glad to see the hard work in redecorating this particular scheme has been recognised.”
