Dudley Performing Art students are tuning up for this summer’s three day arts education festival at Himley.
In true outdoor festival style the weekend will kick off on Friday 4 July with the prestigious Rock the Castle event which will feature 35 rock bands
This year’s festival will be filled with glitz and glamour as the borough’s top young talent will be basing their performances on songs from the shows.
On Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 July events will include performances from theatre groups, dance organisations, school music groups, massed choirs, singers, soloists, acoustic acts, drummers, orchestras and bands.
Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the garden stage, big top stage, entrance/acoustic stage, the Himley crucible, funfairs, trader’s stalls, catering, workshop to join in with and the early years/family tent. The DJ Tent will feature a new breakdancing competition which is open to individuals and groups. The under 14s compete from 5 - 6pm and over 14s from 7 - 8pm.
This year’s festival is FREE entry to 16’s and under for the Saturday and Sunday events. All other tickets cost £5 (£4 concessions) and are available in advance from Dudley Box Office on 01384 812812. The full programme of events is available on www.dudley.gov.uk/dpa
Councillor Liz Walker, cabinet member for children’s services said:
“The arts festival is a chance for talented young people to experience the atmosphere of an outdoor performance. The three days will be a great opportunity for families to spend some time together and enjoy themselves. I would encourage people to go along and make a day of it and perhaps even take a picnic”.
