Halesowen Leisure Centre will cut the ribbon on its new state-of-the-art gym in an official opening ceremony on Wednesday 9 July.
Local councillors will join gym users and members of the public for the event, which will take place in the centre’s new gym from 3.30 to 4.30pm.
Having received a £275,000 makeover, the impressive gym is twice as big as the old one and features the very latest in cardiovascular equipment and high quality resistance equipment.
Qualified and experienced fitness staff will be on hand throughout the open hour to demonstrate equipment as well as explain the support and advice they can provide to gym users. They will also give a demonstration of the gym’s special data keys, which allow members to follow their own fitness programme and record their progress.
The new facilities are part of a wider £1.4million improvement programme, with investment also going to gyms at Crystal and Dudley leisure centres.
Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for the environment and culture, said:
“We’re very proud of the new facilities at Halesowen Leisure Centre and we’re getting great feedback from people who’ve started using them.
“The opening ceremony is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the improvements we’re making across the council’s three leisure centres.”
