Children and families will be able to enjoy a taste of life over the pond during an American-themed open day at a Dudley children’s centre.
Staff are inviting parents, carers and local residents to Priory Children’s Centre open day on Friday, July 4, from 10am to 2pm for the special event.
Line dancing and cheerleading displays can be enjoyed at the centre, next to Priory Primary School, as well as fun activities including badge making, biscuit decorating, flag making, hair braiding and face painting.
There will be a tombola, hook-a-duck, raffles and refreshments. And visitors will also have the chance to meeting the services that operate from the centre, including CAB, the Warehouse project, the Neighbourhood Learning Centre and Jobcentre Plus.
Money raised from the event will go to the centre’s outdoor area appeal. Staff are planning a major development of the area to give children and families the chance to explore and learn in the outdoors.
The plans will be introduced in phases and will include a vegetable garden, under-twos area, forest and adventure trail and sandpit/water area.
Councillor Liz Walker, cabinet member for children’s services, said:
“The open day at Priory Children’s Centre promises to be a lot of fun and money is being raised in a good cause. Plans for the outdoor development are very exciting and will really benefit the children and families who use the centre.”
Priory Children’s Centre provides early education and childcare for children aged from six weeks to five years. Parents and carers can also access training opportunities, health advice and support and information.
