Dudley and Stourbridge libraries will throw open their doors for the first time this Sunday (June 22).
From 10am to 2pm residents will be able to visit both Dudley Library and Stourbridge Library from 10am to 2pm and access all areas including free internet access.
Both libraries will also open until 7pm on Wednesday evenings from June 18. The new opening times are a result of consultation with the public.
Sunday opening will also be introduced at Halesowen, Brierley Hill and Sedgley libraries later in the year.
Councillor Michael Evans, cabinet member responsible for adult and community services, said:
“As part of the council’s modernisation programme and through listening to local demand, we are now in a position to open two of the borough’s main libraries for the first time on Sundays. This is a fantastic development in the service, which will make libraries more accessible to people, more often”.
In total, library opening hours will be extended by 75 hours each week by the end of March 2009 as part of the council’s library modernisation programme. To find out more about the programme call 01384 814739 or go to www.dudley.gov.uk/libraries
