National Carers Week aims to raise issues affecting more than 6 million carers across the country who look after a relative, friend or neighbour with a long term illness, disability or an older/frail person.
The annual event is sponsored by a consortium of national voluntary sector organisations led by Carers UK.
Councillor Peter Miller, cabinet member for adult and community services, said:
“Dudley Carers Forum is a very active and effective group which makes an important contribution to the support of carers in the borough. We are delighted to support this roadshow.
“I would urge carers to come along and find out what they are entitled to or call us if they are unable to come along. I would also like to encourage all members of the public to visit the bus as none of us know when we may become a carer for a family member, friend or neighbour or be in need of care ourselves; so all are welcome, please spare a few minutes to find out more.”
Carers who are unable to make it to the bus but would like further information can call the carers’ co-ordinator on 01384 818723.
