19 -Hagley Road works

 

Following the successful completion of advance works by National Grid Gas during June on a small section of the road, the main works are set to begin on July 19.

 

The works will involve Severn Trent replacing an old sewer pipe and Dudley Council resurfacing the carriageway. The works will run for six to eight weeks through the school summer holidays when traffic volumes are lower in order to cause minimal disruption.

 

During these combined works from July 19, traffic will be diverted via Heath Lane and Worcester Street.

 

“The advance works on the small stretch of road near to Oldswinford Cross went very well and we hope these main works will follow suit.

 

“We are working with National Grid Gas and Severn Trent over the school summer holidays to combine the works to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.”

 

Meanwhile Dudley Council is also taking the opportunity to resurface the section of Hagley Road between Glasshouse Hill and Field Lane where the advance gas works have taken place.

 

To cause minimum disruption and inconvenience this re-surfacing will only be carried out on three Sundays (June 22, June 29 and July 13).  The section of road will be closed on these days in both directions for this work to take place and a diversion route will again be signed.

 

On July 6 smaller works will be taking place, but a road closure will not be necessary.

 

National Grid Gas will complete its advance works on Hagley Road between Oldswinford Cross and Stourbridge College from July 14. Two way traffic will be maintained during these works by closing parking bays on the road.
