30 - Hundreds turn out for trip down memory lane

Hundreds of people turned out at Himley Hall this weekend to take a trip down memory lane with a photo exhibition, depicting happenings throughout the Black Country over the decades.

Around 300 people went along to Himley Hall over the weekend to take in the new exhibition, which opened on Saturday. It includes photographs taken from the Express & Star ‘Pictures from the Past’ which are included in the newspaper’s letters page.

The exhibition includes more than 300 images from the paper’s photographic library.

Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for environment and culture, said:

“This exhibition received a fantastic response in its opening weekend and shows that people love to take a trip down memory lane. I am sure thousands of people will get along to enjoy the pictures before the exhibition closes in September.”

The subjects of the exhibition range from football to Slade and royalty to industry.

Himley Hall and the exhibition is open from 2 to 5pm from Tuesdays through to Sundays and on Bank Holiday Monday. The exhibition will run until September 7.
