Parents and carers are being encouraged to log onto a newly expanded website for all kinds of childcare information and advice.
The website at www.dudley.gov.uk/earlyyearsandchildcare has been updated and extended to include a whole range of information useful to families, childcare professionals and anyone thinking of a career in childcare.
For families, the site includes details of the different types of childcare available in the borough as well as how to find out about leisure activities for children and young people aged from birth to 20. It includes information about paying for childcare, including Nursery Education Funding entitlement, as well as advice and useful contacts for parents of disabled children.
For anyone thinking of a career in childcare, the site includes information about what you may need to think about, details of where to study and the support on offer from Dudley Council for setting up a childcare business.
The site can also be used by anyone already working in a childcare environment to help keep them updated with the latest local and national news and training.
Information is also available about new initiatives including extended schools and children’s centres which aim to provide a community base for children and their parents and carers.
Councillor Liz Walker, cabinet member for children services, said:
“Families can sometimes feel a little bit lost when looking for the best childcare for their children, what questions to ask or how to pay for it.
This extended website can play a vital role in helping parents and carers find the childcare that best suits their lives.
“Working with children is an important job and I would also encourage anyone thinking about their future career in this area to visit the site.”
