12 - Pick up a picnic for Dudley’s Songs of Praise

Songs of Praise

People are being reminded to pack their picnic rug and prepare plenty of sandwiches for the annual Songs of Praise festival with the Mayor of Dudley.

Councillor Ray Burston, the borough’s first citizen, is urging people to come along to Himley Park for the annual open event on Sunday (June 15).

The Bishop of Dudley, the Right Rev David Walker, will lead the service which includes prayers, hymns and music from the Salvation Army bands at 7pm. There will also be performances by choirs from congregations across the borough.

The popular park event runs from 4pm, which includes children’s entertainment including donkey rides, trampolines and face painting, a concert featuring the Cleobury Mortimer Brass Band from 5.45pm.

Councillor Ray Burston, Mayor of Dudley, said:

“The festival is in its 11th year and always attracts a good crowd.

“It will be lovely to see families enjoying the afternoon and evening event and tucking into their picnics on the lawns of this fantastic setting before joining in with the worship and celebration later on.”

Admission to the event is free and car parking is available in the grounds. There will be seating available for people with disabilities. To book a seat call 01384 815 201.
