13 - Rogue trader roadshow

Top tips on guarding against rogue traders will be on offer at a roadshow next week.

Dudley Council trading standards officers are teaming up with police and consumer direct as part of rogue trader month.

Experts will be on hand to offer help and advice in guarding against becoming a victim of disreputable workers calling at homes across the borough.

It includes links to reputable companies and contacts to agencies who share information on crime prevention such as Neighbourhood Watch and tenants and residents groups.

The roadshow is on Wednesday (June 18) in Dudley Market Place from 10.30am to 3.30pm.

Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for environment and culture, said:

“Rogue traders are criminals who prey on vulnerable people across the borough, often tricking large sums of money from people for shoddy work.

“We work closely with a host of agencies to help raise awareness of this so residents do not deal with such traders.”
