War heroes from across the borough turned out with pride for the annual Veterans Day event in Dudley.
More than 200 ex-servicemen and women joined the Mayor of Dudley Councillor Ray Burston for the event on Friday(JUNE 27).
The Mayor presented UK Armed Forces Veterans’ Badges to people who had not yet received them at a moving ceremony.
Veterans also met up with old comrades at the event at Dudley Concert Hall which included songs from the 1940s performed by singer Maggie O’Hara and music from pianist Chris Langdown. A delicious cream tea was also served to the veterans and their guests.
Councillor Ray Burston, the Mayor of Dudley, said:
“It was a great honour to meet such amazing people who gave so much to this country.
“They are real heroes and rightly deserve to be honoured on this special Veterans Day.”
One of the Mayor’s charities is the Thank You project which raises money for five groups of ex-servicemen and women – The Royal British Legion, Combat Stress, Army Benevolent Fund, Royal Naval Benevolent Trust and the Royal Air Force Association.
