26 - £48,000 MUGA coming to Dudley park

Work on a £48,000 multi-use games area is soon to get under way in a Dudley park.

The new equipment is being installed at Buffery Park, thanks to the Liveability scheme and a successful bid by the friends of the park to funding organisation Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd (WREN).

The Friends of Buffery and Grazebrook park drew up a wish list of improvements and created a masterplan for the park after scooping £79,485 through the liveability scheme.

The latest addition follows on from a number of improvements in recent years. These include a new play area for youngsters, designed to be Disability Discrimination Act compliant so it can be enjoyed by children of all abilities. There is also new seating and bins.

Work on the MUGA will start in May and is due to be completed by early June.

Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for environment, said:

“This is really good news for Buffery park. Through both the Liveability scheme and funding from WREN even more improvements can be made to this park.

“The council and the Friends have been working closely to bring about all these improvements. I’m positive this new MUGA will provide a fantastic and popular arena for young people in the area to get active and enjoy a whole variety of sports in a safe environment.”
