An exhibition on the Ancient Greeks at a Dudley Museum has been extended after it was visited by nearly 10,000 school children in two years.
The hugely popular Myths, legends and heroes opened in April 2006 at Dudley Museum and Art Gallery and was set to run until March 2008. Due to popular demand it will now run for another 12 months.
So far 189 schools and a total of 9,500 pupils have visited the exhibition since it opened.
The exhibition which explores Ancient Greek culture was designed to be of interest to the general visitor and to fit in with the primary school curriculum.
Previous exhibitions The Romans and The Egyptians have given the museum a considerable reputation for the provision of education based displays.
Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for the environment said:
“Dudley Museum continues to do an excellent job of bringing history to life for a new generation of students.”
Entry is free. Dudley Museum is open 10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday. Educational programmes are charged for. For further information call Dudley Museum and Art Gallery on 01384 815575.
