13 - Comedy duo all smiles for St George’s celebrations

Brum and Dudley

A top comedy duo will be putting smiles on the faces of the hundreds of people at this year’s St George’s celebrations in Sedgley.

Entertainers Brum and Dudley are among the attractions in Vicar Street Gardens on April 26.

The pair will be juggling, showing off their acrobatic skills and cracking gags to the hundreds of children and families expected at this year’s event.
They join a whole host of other musical and dance entertainers.

Councillor David Stanley, Mayor of Dudley said:

“We have some fantastic entertainment lined up for our annual St George’s celebration.
“This is a real community event and we hope to see everyone there on the day enjoying themselves.”

The popular event runs from 11am-3pm with a host of entertainment in the Vicar Street Gardens. There will also be a town crier and a 10ft tall knight helping with the festivities.

War re-enactment specialists Drudian will be staging realistic mock battles between armour-clad knights armed with swords and shields.

Sedgley Community Association is providing refreshments in the community centre off Ladies Walk.

A range of events will also be held at Sedgley Library, Ladies Walk, including a colouring competition, quiz, baby and toddler rhyme session and poetry.

The Black Country Museum will also be bringing along a mobile parlour, where staff will be on hand to talk to people about how people lived years ago. Sedgley Morris Men will also be performing.

Sedgley school children have been involved in the preparation for event, including the Dormston School who are making a giant dragon, and pupils from Alder Coppice and Queen Victoria schools who will be singing and dancing.

The Mayor of Dudley will get the festivities underway by launching hundreds of red and white balloons into the air.
