27 - Council wins seventh gold for health and safety

Dudley Council’s building services has been presented with a gold award for its health and safety record by a prestigious organisation for the seventh year in a row.
RoSPA – the Birmingham-based Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents – has rewarded the council for its excellent heath and safety standard. For the seventh year running the building services division has been a RoSPA occupational health & safety award winner.
Linda Sanders, director for adult, community and housing services, said:
‘Health and safety in the workplace is vitally important to us, and not just for our own sake. It also indicates to our tenants and everyone in Dudley that when we carry out a job at someone’s house, for example, we will be carrying it out to the very highest possible standards. This unprecedented seventh year in succession of being awarded by RoSPA shows that health and safety is part of our working culture and something we constantly strive to maintain and improve.’
The RoSPA awards not only award best practice, but also help to reinforce the message that good health and safety makes good business sense.
Due to the council’s track record of winning gold awards, for the past three years they have received the impressive gold medal – awarded to those who consistently achieve their gold standard for over five years.

Note to Editors

Gold medals are presented to those organisations which have achieved a minimum of FIVE consecutive Gold Awards.
