Boys from Dudley borough schools wowed the audience yesterday (11 March) with their newly learned dance skills.
Young male dancers from Dudley Performing Arts Fracture project performed at Stourbridge Town Hall. Over the past three months 500 youngsters have taken part in the project which encourages more young males to participate in dance. The boys took to the stage alongside professional dancers Mike ‘Silence’ Glasgow, Sam ‘Sketch’ Maloney, Donald Edwards, Will Aitchinson, Junior Cunningham and Paul Myrie. The professionals have been working with Dudley students to encourage participation of more young male dancers.
Pupils from a number of borough schools have enjoyed the physically demanding and challenging workshops. Schools involved are Windsor High School, Cradley Primary, Highgate Primary, Coseley School and Sports College, Lutley Primary, Oldswinford Hospital School, Kates Hill Primary, Hasbury Primary, Alder Coppice Primary and Thorns Community College.
Dudley Performing Arts are planning to organise a unique all male dance company that will showcase work across the West Midlands at various venues and festivals.
