Dudley Council has sent a delegation of two councillors and two officers to showcase Dudley at a major conference in Cannes, France.
The week-long event has been used as a catalyst to promote the borough and its four principle town centres to assist the promotion of over £3 billion of development opportunities in Dudley over the next 15 to 20 years.
Key developer and investor companies from across the globe have met Dudley’s team and received an insight to what the borough has to offer in investment terms and development opportunities.
The exhibition halls and targeted events have provided unparalleled access to top developers and investors in one place at one time.
Dudley was supported by the other Black Country councils of Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton plus all other councils in the region.
Councillor David Caunt, Leader of Dudley Council, said:
“Nearly 30,000 people from 83 countries attended this year’s event, highlighting the importance of the exhibition in world market terms.
“The Black Country and Dudley especially is well and truly on the map and I am delighted with the response we have received from top developers and investors.”
The Black Country is an important player in team West Midlands, a private-public sector partnership co-ordinated by Advantage West Midlands to demonstrate the range of investment and development opportunities in our region.
To focus on specific developers and investors Dudley Council in partnership with Brierley Hill Regeneration Partnership held a breakfast that was attended by over 50 guests from major supermarket outlets to shopping centre developers. The event was attended by Mick Lafferty, the new chief executive at Advantage West Midlands (the Regional Development Agency).
In addition, Councillor David Caunt, Leader of Dudley Council and chairman of Black Country Consortium held a ‘meet the leaders dinner’ on behalf of the Black Country councils that was attended by council leaders and major developers and investors. Sarah Middleton, chief executive of Black Country Consortium and Peter Miller, a director at Westfield spoke of their commitment to the future development of the Black Country.
