12 - Dudley students get ready for Symphony Hall

More than 1200 children and young people will be hitting the high notes at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall on Sunday 16 March.
 
Dudley Performing Arts’ students from Dudley schools will perform popular movie themes at two concerts at 1pm and 5pm.  Primary school choirs, DPA ensembles and advanced soloists will play music from a wide range of eras to offer something for everybody.
 
Music featured will include golden oldies such as The Dambusters and James Bond themes through to dramas such as Schindler’s List, Gladiator and Backdraft, as well as musicals including Grease and The Blues Brothers.
 
Parents and friends of the performers will join the Mayor of Dudley Councillor David Stanley and other Dudley Council representatives will support this prestigious event.  The Mayor will present the winner of DPA’s Advanced Performer’s Platform with the ‘Goode Shield for outstanding musicianship’ at a VIP reception.
 
Councillor Liz Walker, cabinet member for children’s services said:
 
“The symphony hall is a superb venue and will provide a unique opportunity for our young musicians to exhibit the wealth of talent which is nurtured through Dudley performing Arts.  Congratulations to them all and I am looking forward to their performances”.
