Borough residents can enjoy spring scenery and learn more about their
local wildlife and heritage in a series of countryside walks this March.
OnSunday 16 March from 10am to 12.30pm at Fens Pool Reserve there’s a feathered friends session. Visitors can learn about water rail, wheatear and willow tits as well as other birds out at this time last year. Join the walk around the reserve looking for some of the many species of wildfowl and other birds that have been seen over the years. The walk leaves from the wardens’ base at the Dell Stadium, Pensnett.
There’s a spring walk on Thursday 20 March from 10am to 12noon. Visitors can enjoy a stroll around Saltwells local nature reserve looking for signs of spring as the reserve awakens from its winter slumber. Booking is essential on 01384 812795.
On Tuesday 25 March from 10am to 12noon there’s a children’s geology trail walk. This new family walk follows the trail put together by children from Bramford Primary School’s wildlife group. Last year the pupils designed a new geology trail route for Wren’s Nest especially for children. People coming on the walk can pick up their own free copy of the trail guide, written and illustrated by the children.
Warden Anna will help visitors discover Snake Pit, the Time Travel Walk, Crystal Vein Rock and many more. The walk finishes with a visit to Fossil Mountain where visitors can search for their very own Dudley Bug. Places are limited so booking is essential on 01384 812785.
