Dozens of people turned out to Stourbridge Library on World Book Day (March 6) to meet renowned author Sarah Harrison.
Stourbridge Library invited novelist Sarah Harrison to the library to celebrate the annual event and launch the National Year of Reading 2008 celebrations in Dudley borough.
Sarah, who is well known for her novels for both adults and children and her self help guide How to write a blockbuster talked about her work, read extracts from her latest book, A spell of Swallows and signed copies.
Councillor Michael Evans, the cabinet member responsible for libraries, said:
“Sarah’s visit went down really well at the library as it’s not everyday you get the opportunity to meet a renowned author. However, there are more author visits to look forward to when the Big Book Fortnight returns in May.”
World Book Day also saw the launch of the six book challenge across all borough libraries in partnership with Costa Coffee. This is aimed at budding readers who are asked to read six books as part of the challenge. Readers who complete the challenge will receive a certificate and be entered into a national prize draw for an all expenses paid trip to London for two people.
