15 - Whit week JAM club

Dudley Council’s JAM (juniors at museums) has lots of fun craft activities for youngsters to enjoy during the Whitsun school holidays.

The activities, aimed at six to 11 year-olds, will take place across the borough’s three council-led museums.

At Broadfield House Glass Museum welcomes monster mayhem from Tuesday 27 May to Sunday 1 June. Children can enjoy searching the museum for monsters on glass and make their own mythical monster. This trail runs from 12noon to 4pm and is free of charge.

For junior sports fanatics Dudley Museum and Art Gallery is holding a range of sports themed activities. On Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 May, for just £2.50, there will be a sports day where youngsters can design and create their own bat and ball as well as decorating an egg for ‘egg and spoon’ races. Sessions start at 11am, 12noon and 1pm but usually take longer than one hour to complete.

Children can also match pieces of equipment to various sports with the museum’s sports search throughout the week. This activity runs from 10am to 4pm from Tuesday 27 to Saturday 31 May and is free of charge.

At the Red House Glass Cone on Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 May youngsters can join bug’s life sessions where they can make mosquitoes and nodding animals as well as decorating mini plant pots. There are two sessions each day at 10.30am to 12.30pm or 1.30 to 3pm. Each session costs £3.25 and advance booking is recommended.

There’s also a free daily flower power trail from Saturday 24 May to Sunday 1 June. Kids can search the site for hidden flower stamps around the site to stamp their cards.

All paid for sessions must be booked in advance and children must be accompanied by an adult. Some sessions may be available on the day.

Entry to all sites is free. For further information or to book places call the Red House Cone on 01384 812750, Dudley Museum and Art Gallery on 01384 815575 or Broadfield House Glass Museum on 01384 812745.
