Local contractors are being invited to tender for work to help raise the standards of the borough’s council homes.
Dudley Council is calling on local, experienced contractors to tender for the work that will ensure the borough’s housing stock meets the decent homes standard.
The three year contract, worth £3.7 million, will be to undertake work to the roofing and exterior of the council’s housing stock, working in conjunction with the council’s building services construction team. They will be working collaboratively to ensure customers receive an innovative service.
The project will include:
· replacement roof coverings programme, which includes multi-storey flat roof repairs and roofing & structural repairs to dwellings where roofs fail the decent homes standard
· general building works and repairs to the exterior of properties
· replacement of soffits and fascias
· provision of a 24 hour emergency roofing repair facility.
Linda Sanders, director of adult, community & housing services, said:
“A major benefit of the scheme will be the amalgamation of a number of minor contracts, enabling us to provide a cost effective and efficient service. We will be awarding the contract to the company who is competitive in terms of price and importantly, quality. We want to draw upon the experience of a contractor who is an expert in this field.”
