6 - shoppers step back in time

Historic Halesowen event was a great success The Deputy Mayor of Dudley councillor Ray Burston joins in the medieval music making with 'Squeeke's Noyse' members Anne-Marie Ewing, Thor Ewing and their son Caradoc aged 3.
 
Shoppers visiting Halesowen on Saturday were able to step back in time with a number of medieval re-enactments in the town centre.
 
The medieval activities, which were organised by Dudley Council for Somers Square, included demonstrations of a medieval surgery, weapons, tile making, crafts, music and re-enactments in full costume.
 
Alongside the historical activities, Abby and Teabags provided face painting and balloon modeling while a medieval jester and stilt walker provided fun and entertainment for all the family.
 
Dudley’s Queen of Culture Pat Wakelam was there to welcome visitors and all activities were free of charge.
 
Pat Wakelam, Dudley’s Queen of culture, said:
 
“This was a wonderful event for Halesowen and it was a delight to be involved with it. 
 
“There was a great turnout and with such lovely weather I am sure many people will remember the activities for a long time to come.”
