Backlogs of bank holiday rubbish are a thing of the past for Dudley borough residents after the council announced plans to extend its waste collection service.
Waste collections will now take place across the Dudley borough on all bank holidays – starting with the Whit Bank Holiday Monday on May 26.
Dudley Council has announced collections will now be held on Easter Monday, May Day, Whit Monday, August Bank Holiday and Good Friday. This means collections will be held on all week days of the year apart from the Christmas and New Year period.
Collections were previously only made on May Day and Good Friday but the improved, extended service will mean all bank holidays are now covered.
Matt Williams, assistant director of the urban environment, said:
“This really is a significant improvement in the service we are able to offer and we’re sure it will be welcomed by all residents who receive collections on these days.”
Residents are reminded to ensure their bags are left out for collection from 6am on the morning of collection.
