28 - Picnic in the park with the Mayor of Dudley

Families are being invited to enjoy a picnic on the lawns of Himley Hall at a special open air Songs of Praise festival.

The Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Ray Burston, will be guest of honour at the annual Songs of Praise event in Himley Park next month(June).

People are being urged to join in with the hymns during the popular outdoor service which will be led by the Bishop of Dudley, the Right Rev David Walker on June 15.

The festival is now in its 11th year and will include brass bands and church choirs. People are being urged to bring their picnic blankets and packed lunches and enjoy a relaxing tea on the lawns of the landmark Himley Hall.

Councillor Ray Burston, Mayor of Dudley, said:

“This is always one of the borough’s most popular events and if the weather is good it should be a fantastic evening out.

“We hope to see as many people as possible in the park tucking into their picnics and enjoying worship and celebration.”

The service starts at 7pm, but there will be a concert with Cleobury Brass Band from 5.45-6.45pm. There will also be children’s entertainment including donkey rides, trampolines and face painting, from 4pm.

Admission to the event is free and car parking is available in the grounds. There will be seating available for people with disabilities. To book a seat call 01384 815 201.
