A fun evening out for the whole family is in store at HimleyPark next month when the 11th Dudley Songs of Praise is held.
Hundreds of people will again turn out for the popular event which will this year be held on Sunday June 15. As always, the event will offer everyone the chance to enjoy and join in with a variety of popular hymns and this year will also have plenty of children’s entertainment.
There will be a variety of entertainment in the park from 4pm before the Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Ray Burston opens the Songs of Praise event at 7pm. The Bishop of Dudley, the Right Rev. David Walker will lead the service and music for the event will be co-ordinated by Rosemary Phillips.
A special choir, drawn from local churches will be leading hymns from the stage, accompanied by the Salvation Army Band. Also performing will be the St. Peters Collegiate School Unity Choir and the Saltmine Theatre Company.
Councillor Ray Burston, the Mayor of Dudley, said:
“Himley Park really is the perfect venue for this superb annual Songs of Praise event. We’ve got plenty of people’s favourite hymns to enjoy and we also have plenty of other entertainment for children. I hope as many people will turn out to enjoy the fun.”
Evangelist and children’s entertainer, Paul Willmott, will provide activities such as juggling, uni-cycling and magic. Trampolines, mini fun rides, donkey rides and face painting will also be available. These activities will be available from 4pm.
There will also be a performance by the Cleobury Brass Band from 5.45pm to 6.45pm. We are hoping that families will come to Himley with a picnic in the afternoon and stay to enjoy the evening of Songs of Praise.
Admission to the Dudley Songs of Praise 2008 is free and people are encouraged to bring their own chairs and picnic baskets. Car parking is within the grounds, as close to the audience area as possible and light refreshments will be available. Seating will be available for people with disabilities. And reservations for this are advisable.
