Bike Week

Dudley borough families are gearing themselves up for a wheelie fun day out next month to mark National Bike Week.

The theme for this year’s Bike Week, which runs from June 14 to 22, is freedom for the family and to fit in with this Dudley Council has organised a family ride and treasure hunt.

The easy six-mile ride will be held on Saturday June 21, setting off and finishing at the Bonded Warehouse in Stourbridge. The ride will start at 10.30am and the route will be filled with clues and questions along the way to create a treasure hunt for the whole family

At the end of the route back at the Bonded Warehouse, the council’s cycle training and library teams, along with Sustrans, will be on hand to provide leaflets and information about cycling.

Councillor Angus Adams, cabinet member for transportation at Dudley Council, said:
“I hope families from across the borough will go along and take part in what promises to be another great event. Cycling is not only great fun, an excellent way to get fit and environmentally friendly, it also helps keep congestion down on our roads.”

In addition to the event Dudley Council’s cycle training team will be delivering cycle training at Manor Way, Greenfields, St Edmund’s and St John’s and Wallbrook primary school during the week.

Bike Week is one of the UK's biggest cycling events. It is organised to celebrate freedom and to promote cycling as a source of fitness and fun.  Thousands of free cycling events will be held across the country throughout the week to encourage people of all abilities to get on their bike and ride.
