Christmas shoppers will literally see Dudley light up at the town centre’s big switch on event later this month.
The festive fun will take place in the High Street on Saturday 22 November from noon to 5pm with the town centre’s Christmas lights being switched on at 5pm by Titan the 8ft robot.
Hosted by Beacon Radio, it will include an afternoon of on stage entertainment from local schools and theatre groups. There will also be children’s entertainers, face painting and birds of prey.
Titan will be available to meet and greet shoppers in Stone Street Square from 1 to 1.30pm, Market Place from 3 to 3.30pm and by the Beacon Radio stage from 4.30pm through to switch on time.
The event will coincide with the town’s first Victorian Christmas craft market, which is taking place in Stone Street Square on Friday 21 November from 10am to 7pm and on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 November from 10am to 6pm.
Craft stalls will be selling a range of festive gifts and there will be musical entertainment as well as a children’s Christmas grotto with Mother Christmas.
Councillor Malcolm Knowles, cabinet member for regeneration, said:
“This is another brilliant line up of activities to celebrate the start of Christmas here in Dudley.
“Our Christmas town centre events are always very popular and with so much on offer I’m sure lots of people will turn out to enjoy the festive fun.”
