31 - SpongeBob to light up Brierley Hill

Archived news release from 2008

Popular cartoon character SpongeBob SquarePants is set to light up Brierley Hill when he attends the town’s annual Christmas event.

The Nickelodeon character will be in the Moor Street Shopping Centre on Friday 14 November from 4pm and will switch on the Christmas lights at 6pm.

Organised by Dudley Council, the event will include free activities for youngsters including face painting, a bouncy castle, fun fair rides and a caricaturist. There will also be reindeers and falcon birds of prey as well as live entertainment from local schools.

Councillor Malcolm Knowles, cabinet member for regeneration, said:

“Brierley Hill has a great set of Christmas lights and the switch on event is always a favourite amongst shoppers and residents who visit the area.

“I’m sure lots of people will want to come to this year’s event to meet SpongeBob and join in the fun.”
