Dudley Museum and Art Gallery is set to host its ‘Chocolate Box’ paintings exhibition.
The exhibition, which runs from Saturday 25 October, is called 'Chocolate Box' because it is made up of picturesque paintings that would not be out of place on a chocolate box lid.
The Dudley Council museum on Priory Street will hold the exhibition until 19 January. With traditional country scenes including pictures of animals, fruit and flowers, it is expected to prove popular throughout the festive season.
Mainly made up of oil paintings, the works have been selected from the Dudley borough’s large reserve collection, which are displayed at the museum as part of a rolling programme.
Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for environment and culture, said:
“Dudley Museum and Art Gallery hosts fantastic displays all year round and we’re delighted to offer something so festive for the winter.
“The borough is very fortunate to posses such a beautiful array of pictures and this exhibition is great chance to see some of the finest ones.”
Dudley Museum and Art Gallery, St. James’s Road (entrance at Priory Street), is open Monday to Saturday 10am to 4pm and is closed on Bank Holidays. Admission is free of charge.
