Due to planned maintenance there may be disruption to this site on Sunday 11th January from 8am through until 6pm. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.
Following a highly successful pilot scheme in Stourbridge and Halesowen, Dudley at Home is being rolled out across the borough this week. From Thursday 23rd October, available council homes throughout the borough will be advertised on the website www.dudleyathome.org.uk, so that applicants on the waiting list can ask to be considered for specific properties. Homes will still be let to the applicant in greatest need.
Recognising that council housing cannot meet everyone’s needs, a new housing options service is also being launched to ensure customers understand what housing options may be available to them. Staff will be able to offer general advice on a wide range of options for renting and buying properties, or to refer customers to specialist services that can support them to stay in their existing homes, such as mediation, debt prevention, tenancy sustainment and home improvements.
Councillor Michael Evans, cabinet member for housing, said:
‘Affordable homes are vital to people on a low income and we can offer advice and help to customers about what is available for their own circumstances. For those who have high priority for council housing, Dudley at Home offers the opportunity for real choice over where they will live, whilst our housing options service will provide a service for those whose housing needs the council cannot directly meet’.
For more information on these services, residents should visit their local housing office or Dudley Council Plus, or contact the council on 01384 812345.
