Families interested in therapeutic fostering can find out more at Merry Hill next weekend.

Dudley Council’s Flipside fostering team is hosting an information stand on Saturday 25 October for anyone who would like to find out more about its therapeutic service.

Therapeutic fostering is an early intervention technique to control behaviour which was developed in the USA.   It combines high levels of supervision from foster carers and intensive support of healthcare professionals.

Adults and families will get the chance to learn more about what Flipside is about, ask questions and to have an informal chat with members of the team. No appointment is necessary, families are welcome to drop in any time between 10am and 4pm near Asda in the mall of the Merry Hill Centre, Brierley Hill.

Councillor Liz Walker, cabinet member for children’s services said:
“The Flipside team is currently trying to increase the number of carers for its specialist fostering service to offer the best possible placements for children and young people.
“The stand at the Merry Hill is the perfect opportunity to get to meet the team and existing carers and get a first hand insight into how carers can turn a child’s life around”.

Flipside carers provide therapeutic foster care for three to 16 year olds and are looking for new full-time and respite foster carers to join the service.
